The Need
Although a fire destroyed the original church in 1844, the present building and its works of art are nationally recognized for their historic and cultural significance.Their age, present condition, and historical importance deserve renovation and preservation for future generations.
Our most pressing needs are to preserve the building’s structure and architecture, and to assess and preserve the works of art. Below are a few examples of the work that is urgently needed.

- Repointing three of the exterior brick facades.
- Repairing the 4th Street limestone retaining walls.
- Repointing the brick interior of the tower steeple.
- Repairing the basement masonry columns.

- Conserving the paintings of St Augustine’s life.
- Conserving the Stations of the Cross.
- Upgrading the lighting on the St. Augustine paintings.
